The Moon’s Nodes, known as Rahu and Ketu in Jyotish, have fascinated astrologers- East and West- for centuries. Even so, astrologers do not all agree on the nature and meaning of these vital points in the chart. Astrologers from different schools of thought view the Nodes in distinctly different ways, and for this reason it’s particularly valuable, if not necessary, to explore the so called ‘Dragon’s Head’ and ‘Dragon’s Tail’ from various angles.

As the ‘shadows’ that create eclipses of the Sun and Moon, Rahu and Ketu are regarded with some wariness in Vedic astrology. And yet despite, or even because of the complications they may bring into our lives, this enigmatic axis in the horoscope can provide useful insights into our personal evolution.

Join us on Sunday 27 November 2016, at Shamballah, Cape Town, as Elna Mc Kenzie shares her understanding of Rahu and Ketu through the lens of Vedic astrology.

elna-mckenzieElna Mc Kenzie is a Vedic Astrologer who has been studying and practising Vedic Astrology for the past decade. Her interest in Astrology started at a young age and her initial focus revolved around Western Astrology. However, when she embarked on her journey studying the ancient Vedic Scriptures a whole new world opened up. Her passion for Vedic Astrology started after she completed a Yoga Teachers’ Course and a course in Ayurvedic Health Care. Thereafter Jyotish was a natural progression and in 2007 she received a diploma in Vedic Astrology from Komilla Sutton in India at Chidambaram.

Her journey continued with further studies and pilgrimages to India. At the moment she is studying Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra and the Upadesha Sutras of Maharishi Jaimini with qualified Jaimini Scholars under guidance of Pandit Sanjay Rath. Pandit Sanjay Rath is based in Delhi, India, and belongs to a traditional family of astrologers from Puri, Orissa, which trace their lineage back to Shri Achyutananda Das. In February 2013 Elna was part of the faculty of Astrologers lecturing at an International Vedic Astrology Conference, organised by Komilla Sutton, which was held in Pondicherry, India.

Elna can be reached at  elnamck@gmail.com.

See you at Shamballah!
